Charles Wallace Professional Visits Programme 2019/20

Criteria

The Charles Wallace Professional Visits Programme provides assistance to mid-career professionals who wish to undertake short visits to the United Kingdom to broaden their professional knowledge, skills and contacts.

The visits may take the form of an attachment to a university department, professional institution, or arts centre. Their two principal purposes are, firstly, professional familiarization and interaction; secondly, study and research.

A visit may last for between three weeks and three months.

Candidates should:

• be Bangladeshi nationals, residing in Bangladesh, aged between 25 - 50
• an invitation letter from the UK institution (for the period of time applied for) is essential and should be attached with the application
• apply only in the subject areas listed below.

Award-holders will receive a grant of £1,450 per month, and a contribution of maximum £1,000 towards international travel costs. The award also covers health insurance for the duration of visit in the UK.

The award-holders must make all their own arrangements in the UK in consultation with their host institution. There is no provision for course or bench fees.

Eligible subject areas

Eligible disciplines are as follows,

• Arts, humanities and creative industries
• Environment and climate change
• Education and Skills development (both life and technical skills for economic empowerment)
• Social Development including Youth mobilisation, community development and Social enterprise
• Journalism, Mass Communication, Media and Public Relations
