Health Services Division Job Circular

 

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) is one of the key ministries of the government of Bangladesh, responsible for overseeing the country’s health system, ensuring public health, and promoting family welfare. It plays a pivotal role in the development and implementation of national health policies, healthcare programs, and family planning services.

Key Functions of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW):

  1. Healthcare System Management:

    • The ministry is responsible for the overall management and administration of public healthcare services in Bangladesh.
    • It supervises government healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, health centers, clinics, and dispensaries, to ensure healthcare access for the population, especially in rural and underserved areas.

  • Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP): Manages family planning programs, reproductive health services, and population control efforts.
  • Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC): Conducts medical research and development in the health sector.
  • National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM): Focuses on public health education and research.
  • Health and Family Welfare Services in Rural Areas: Ensures healthcare access in rural and remote areas through mobile clinics, community health workers, and local health centers.

Achievements:

  • Improved Access to Healthcare: The MOHFW has made significant strides in improving the availability of healthcare facilities and services across the country, especially in rural areas.

Challenges:

  • Healthcare Infrastructure: Despite improvements, there are still challenges related to healthcare infrastructure, particularly in remote regions, which need further expansion and modernization.
  • Resource Limitations: The healthcare system faces challenges related to funding, resources, and medical equipment, which affect the quality of care in some areas.
