The Asia Foundation (TAF) is a nonprofit international development organization committed to improving lives across a dynamic and developing Asia. We are currently looking for a dynamic and energetic communication officer to oversee internal and external communications of the Foundation’s Bangladesh office. The communications officer will be a crucial part of the program development team, reporting to the Director, Program Development at the Dhaka office.
Communications Officer
Position Title: Communications Officer
Duration & Location: Full-time; Dhaka, Bangladesh
Reporting to: Director, Program Development
Responsibilities:
- Develops a strong understanding of programmatic and organizational goals and strategies and ensures they are integrated into communications and outreach activities
- Develops and implements external communication strategy for The Asia Foundation
- Produces communication materials for external stakeholders
- Develop and/or update communication materials for each of the existing programs
- Develop knowledge products
- Identifies, researches, and writes useful and engaging content for target audiences on TAF’s programs and external outlets, including In Asia blog, social media, and the industry or mainstream news outlets
- Creates and updates stakeholder list. Develops and maintains liaison with important, relevant stakeholders on behalf of TAF as per requirements
- Provides support to implement/execute external events successfully
- Creates innovative ways to promote the activities of TAF. Contributes ideas for new programs, researching and recommending innovative branding techniques
- Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Strong, versatile copywriting skills
- Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills
- Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed
- Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently
- Possesses a sense of urgency; is self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships
- Good verbal presentation, group dynamic, and facilitation skills
- Proactive approach to resolving problems and issues
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Development Study, Journalism or other social science disciplines
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in communication, program/project development, and knowledge-management related work in the development sector
- Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of various editing software and platforms
