Anondo Housing Society is a residential development located in Rupganj Union, Narayanganj District, Bangladesh. Established in 2007 by the Anand Police Family Welfare Cooperative Society, the project primarily serves members of the Bangladesh Police, including both current and retired officers, as well as their families. The society is also open to other established professionals through a selective application process

Location & Access

• Proximity: Situated approximately 12 km (about 7 miles) from Dhaka’s Airport Road, the development is accessible via the 300-foot road, Kuraish Flyover, and Madani Avenue. It’s about a 10-minute drive from the American Embassy and a 2-minute walk from the 300-foot road .

• Area: The project spans over 1,200 bighas (approximately 400 acres) in the Gutiabo, Masurigrame, and Jangir Mouzas of Rupganj .

• Sizes: Plots range from 3 to 20 katha (approximately 1,000 to 6,600 sq. ft.).

• Payment Structure: An initial deposit of BDT 100,000 is required to apply. Upon application acceptance, 25% of the total plot price is due within 15 days. The remaining balance is payable in installments. Utility costs, registration, and documentation fees are additional and payable at the time of deed execution .

• In 2019, former IGP Benazir Ahmed’s daughter was implicated in a corruption case involving a bungalow constructed on 24 katha of land within the society. The Anti-Corruption Commission seized the property, valued at approximately BDT 10 crore .

• Reports suggest that police officers may have used their influence to acquire land within the society, leading to allegations of land grabbing and forced property transfers .
