The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) is looking for self-motivated, competent & experienced officials, willing to build career with one of the most prestigious professional Institutes of Bangladesh in the following position:
1. Position: Deputy Director, Department: Financial Report Monitoring and Practice Review, Division: Technical & Regulatory, No. of Post: 02
Functions: Individual to independently work in the area of financial report monitoring and audit practice review in compliance with IFRS, ISA, quality control standards and other relevant standards, rules and regulations.
Required Qualification: Must be a Chartered Accountant from ICAB with BBA/MBA in Finance, Accounting or Economics from any reputed public/private university. Having expertise in the application of audit software will be an added qualification. Good interpersonal skill, IT skill and competency of written communication in both English and Bengali are essential.

ICAB is the national professional accountancy body in Bangladesh, established under the Bangladesh Chartered Accountants Order of 1973. It is the sole organization authorized to award the Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) designation in the country.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:

Professional Development: ICAB is responsible for establishing initial professional development and continuing professional development (CPD) requirements for its members. The institute reports that its system mostly aligns with the requirements of the International Education Standards (IES); however, CPD requirements do not fully align. The institute has plans to incorporate the full requirements by March 2017.

Quality Assurance: Under the authority of the Bangladesh Chartered Accountants Order of 1973, ICAB has been responsible for establishing and maintaining a quality assurance (QA) review system of audit firms since 2008. The institute reports that its system is aligned with the requirements of the Statement of Membership Obligations (SMO) 1.

Standard Setting: Under the Bangladesh Chartered Accountants Order of 1973, the institute remains the de facto standard-setter in the country.

Ethical Requirements: ICAB is directly responsible for establishing ethical requirements for its members and has adopted the 2013 International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) Code of Ethics. The institute monitors new pronouncements by IESBA to ensure the Code is regularly updated and is reviewing the latest IESBA Code for adoption in the country.

Investigative and Disciplinary System: ICAB has created three separate independent Boards for Investigation, Discipline, and Appeals. The institute conducted an assessment of its investigative and disciplinary system against the requirements of SMO 6 and reports that it adopts most of the requirements, except that its Disciplinary Committee does not have non-accountants as members.
Membership and Affiliations:
ICAB has over 1,900 members and is a founding member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), and the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
