Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) is the primary electricity distribution utility serving the southern and central parts of Dhaka city, including parts of Narayanganj District. Established on October 25, 2005, DPDC commenced commercial operations on July 1, 2008, taking over from the Dhaka Electric Supply Authority (DESA). The company is wholly owned by the Government of Bangladesh under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
