Khulna Agricultural University (KAU) is one of the raising public universities of Bangladesh giving special importance on the Agricultural education and research. KAU is well known for providing its students with a rich and diverse academic environment. This University aims to ensure opportunities for both intellectual development and the attainment of specialized knowledge and skills and make it as the ‘Center of Brilliance’.
KAU has commenced its’ wends from 14 July, 2015 as the first Agricultural University in grater southern region of Bangladesh. To fulfill the dream of Bangabandhu’s ‘Sonar Bangla’ and following demands from eminent personnel and others in the southern region, honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (Daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) on 5 march 2011, pledged in an assembly at Khalishpur to establish an Agricultural University in Khulna for the extension and outreach of agricultural education, techniques and technologies to overcome agricultural challenges throughout Bangladesh specially in northern coastal region.
