Name of Position: Officer, Entrepreneurship Development

Number of Vacancies: 10

Nature of Job: Full-time, Contractual Staff

Job Location: Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Gazipur, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet.

UCEP Bangladesh, a leading non-governmental organization, founded by New Zealand philanthropist Mr. Lindsey Allan Cheyne in 1972 has been playing a significant role in shaping the lives of thousands of underprivileged children and youth across the country since 1972. With the motto “Help to learn, Skills to Earn”, UCEP Bangladesh provides Life Skills Technical Education, Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET), Skills Development, and Decent Employment opportunities to underprivileged, women, youth, PWDs, and indigenous people. Annually, around 35,000 students are educated by vocational training and technical education through our 36 Technical schools, 12 TVET Institutes, 08 technical outreach centers, and 02 polytechnics.

UCEP Bangladesh has been working in all 08 divisions in Bangladesh through its 08 regions including Dhaka (North & South), Gazipur, Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cox’s Bazar.

Job Purpose: To contribute to taking an active role in the design, plan, supervision, and implementation of entrepreneurship development programs, and business development support through coordination with the regional team, by the multiple objectives, activities, and targets outlined within current donor proposals and in line with projects’ budget as well as in line with UCEP Bangladesh’s values, vision, mission, goals, and relevant country laws

Job Responsibilities:

The Officer, Entrepreneurship Development is responsible for facilitating how to gain confidence and move forward in life and support to economic empowerment of youth, micro-entrepreneurs, and underprivileged target groups. The Officer will be accountable for delivering life skills and entrepreneurship development sessions and monitoring the program participants. The duties and responsibilities of the Officer, of Entrepreneurship Development are as follows:

  • Facilitate sessions on growth mindset, emotional intelligence, team building, adaptability, networking & collaboration, business management & entrepreneurship development with leadership & healthy role modeling to youth.
  • Establish linkage with local enterprises and entrepreneurs and other relevant stakeholders for employment (self and wage) creation and take feedback from the employers and apprentices regarding training & employment.
  • Assist the Business Management trainees in developing Business Plans and monitor & mentor the trainees during their employment.
  • Check attendance records, quality of training, beneficiary grievances, progress on the business plan, and future aspirations.
  • Assist in organizing seminars, workshops, training, and other community mobilization programs.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly progress reports on time; and
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the management.
  • Promote and contribute to ongoing efforts towards gender equity, child protection, inclusiveness, accessibility, and discrimination-free environment in the workplace and operations/activities/plans.
  • To maintain confidentiality of information, documents, and other internal and external communications.
  • To carry out any other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor as and when necessary

Essential Requirements:

  • Master’s in Economics/Social Science/Development Studies/Business Administration from any reputed university.
  • At least 03 years of relevant experience, preferably in training & facilitation of entrepreneurship/ business development.
  • The age limit for the applicant would be Maximum 45 years. Management has the right to make exceptions based on qualifications.
  • Both males and females are allowed to apply.
  • Training/ToT on Entrepreneurship Development/Business Management from SIYB/SME Foundation will be treated as extra quality.
  • Have experience working with youth, micro-entrepreneurs, and underprivileged target groups.
  • Good operating skills in the Microsoft Office package.
  • Should have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English & Bangla.
  • Ability to market linkage and business incubation support (Private sector engagement, access to finance, and business associations).
  • Clear understanding of project deliverables, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Ability to develop a module, curriculum, and presentation for Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT), soft skills, etc.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and team player.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently.
  • Management has the right to make exceptions based on qualifications and experiences.

Salary:

  • Monthly consolidated BDT. 30,000/- (Thirty Thousand).
  • Income Tax or any other statutory deductions will be as per government rules and UCEP policies.

Other Benefits

  • Tour allowance, Weekly 02 holidays, Festival Bonus etc. as per Project rules and UCEP policies.

UCEP Bangladesh was established by Mr. Lindsay Allan Cheyne, a New Zealander in 1972. With the motto ‘Help to Learn, Skills to Earn’, UCEP Bangladesh is a non-governmental organization which provides Second Chance Education to out-of-school children and Decent Work to youth & adults through Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET) and Skills Development. It has a special focus on Social Inclusion, therefore gives priority to females, children & youth from poor and underprivileged families.

At present, UCEP Bangladesh is governed by the UCEP Bangladesh Association, comprising of 43 voluntary members of whom 7 are elected to serve as the Board of Governors (BoG) for a two years’ term. The management of UCEP Bangladesh is led by the Executive Director (ED) and a Senior Management Team (SMT), supported by Regional Management Team (RMT).

UCEP Bangladesh works to bring more children and youth, who have dropped out of school, back to General and Technical Education, as well as engage families and communities to provide support to their children’s education, training and employment. UCEP Bangladesh aims to build partnership with the government, employers, organizations and other stakeholders to foster the institutionalization and sustainability process of the efforts and promote the “Leave No One Behind”campaign by focusing on Social Inclusion
