ARS-Bangladesh is a countrywide NGO-MFI committed to accelerate national development through upgrading the socio-economic conditions of the marginalized people belonging to lower socio-economic strata of rural and urban regions. The organization is predominantly sensible about women, children, elderly people and persons with disabilities.

Fact of Founding:
Being concerned of dire socio-economic status of grassroots people in Bangladesh, a flock of DU graduates founded Association for Rural Society in 1998 under dynamic leadership of Md. Shamsul Alam with a view to empower disadvantaged people at rural setting towards obtaining a life free of poverty, illiteracy, health-hazard and discrimination through promotion of income, housing, education, aptitude, health and human rights.

Some Words about the Name:
Association for Rural Society was formed to advance rural society by associating small groups inside. The name of the organization clearly signifies the purpose of its birth. The entity became widely familiar as ARS-Bangladesh in course of time.

Mission of the Organization:
Mission of ARS-Bangladesh is to empower marginalized and underprivileged communities of the country towards sustainable socio-economic advancement by providing need-based services and supports within frameworks of microfinance, vocational and life-skill, housing, agriculture, health, education, sanitation, gender, environment, human rights and digitization.

Vision of the Organization:ARS-Bangladesh envisions an inclusive, poverty-free, healthy, knowledge-based, creative, environmentally sustainable and equitable society.
